Performs highly-skilled laboratory functions and other technical duties in support of coursework.

Main Tasks & Duties

  • Supervise the teaching of scientific subjects, laboratories and practical training.
  • Participate in developing study plans and proposing their improvement; prepare, conduct, correct and provide control over exams; and evaluate student performance according to needs of the college.
  • Participate in the committees, workshops and scientific activities of the college.
  • Assist faculty members with research activities.
  • Implement the applicable laws and regulations of the university.
  • Conduct scientific research in his/her academic field.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by his/her direct manager, providing that they do not conflict with the nature of his/her work.
  • Sets up, maintains, and organizes student laboratories
  • Assists students with setting up experiments and other learning exercises, and with the use of equipment and materials
  • Maintains appropriate safety and hygiene standards
  • Maintains required documentation related to laboratory activities
  • Manages equipment and materials inventories.
  • Maintaining laboratory supplies- laboratory equipment, glassware and Chemicals.
  • Determining chemical and equipment requirements, prepare purchase specifications and coordinate acquisitions.
  • Physics and engineering principles, including electronics and material testing concepts.
  • Subject matter related to engineering and physics courses taught at this college.
  • Operational characteristics of apparatus, equipment and materials used in engineering and physics laboratories.
  • Managing all chemical stock rooms in the department.
  • Preparing reagents and supplies for chemistry laboratory courses.
  • Participating in the design, development and testing of new experiments.
  • Training and supervise other technicians.
  • Participate in carrying out some field/ lab experiments of projects.
  • Ensuring proper handling, storage and disposal of wastes and hazardous materials in accordance with safety and hygiene standards.
  • Maintaining laboratory records and inventories
  • Preparing and general maintenance of laboratory equipment and instruments.

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Electromechanical or in the same academic field in which he/she is working.
  • Preferably with 2 years’ relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of the university’s academic management computer systems.
  • Knowledge of the laws and regulations that govern academic work in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
  • A good network of relationships at an academic level.
  • A good command of Arabic and English (preferably both spoken and written).
