The Dean of Research & Graduate Studies is responsible for providing general supervision over all matters relating to research and graduate studies, ensuring compliance with its regulations and promoting the culture of research to strengthen the position of the university as a main hub for research in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Main Tasks & Duties

  • Supervise the Implementation of policies and bylaws of Research and Graduate studies in the University.
  • Prepare a plan for research and postgraduate studies and recommend its adoption before the university council.
  • Develop a financial budget for the deanship.
  • Search for scholarships and finance sources to support scientific research, both inside and outside the Kingdom.
  • Supervise and encourage researchers and Academic Staff to publish scientific outcomes in the form of articles, books, and translations, and oversee publication of the University’s scientific journal.
  • Encourage scientific research and promote work in research teams and participation at local and international conferences.
  • Arrange scientific seminars and conferences.
  • Review reports prepared by the Graduate Studies Unit and Research Unit relating to postgraduate studies and research, and provide evaluations.
  • Constitute relevant committees for the success of the Deanship.
  • Forward an annual report to the President through the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Development outlining the activities and achievements of the Deanship.
  • Coordinate with scientific institutions and professional bodies in relevant fields.
  • Supervise the University’s scientific journal.

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • A PhD in an academic discipline.
  • Ample experience in an academic and administrative field.
  • A good network of relationships at an academic level.
  • A good command of Arabic and English (preferably both spoken and written).
